Oh Lee, I get it. Accepting grace is the hardest easy thing I’ve ever done. Talk about an oxymoron! I think it is because of our ‘nothing is free’ mentality. But once we are adopted into HIS family, the papers are signed (with HIS blood) and our Heavenly Father says “You are Mine now and I am going to help you live, love and act like a member of my family. You don’t have to earn your position, but I have some things to teach you for your good and for the good of the world around you. It will take time, but you watch, you’ll see! I will never give up on you! I committed to love you forever before the beginning of time, and I will never ever stop no matter what you think, say or do. I proved My commitment at the cross…you need never ever doubt or question that again!”
Humanly, we often see the just, judging God, forgetting (or maybe not knowing at all) that He has many attributes that work together. God’s nature is also fraught with holiness, compassion, love, mercy and grace. His grace provided payment for His justice judgment when Jesus paid our entire sin debt, our death sentence, at the cross. And our position in Christ is sealed at salvation. We will still experience failure, sin and growth through some tough experiences, but that doesn’t change our position. My brother and his wife adopted four kids… They signed the papers and changed their names…it was finished, they were family, no turning back! And believe me, when they first arrived in their home they did not act like they’d been raised by my dear brother and his sweet wife. It took a lot of work and a lot of time, and there were still a lot of rough edges. As it is with me/us when we are first welcomed into God’s family. God adopted me into His family many years ago, He signed the papers and changed my name… and He has worked tirelessly to transform me into the image of His Son ever since, but alas, there are still a lot of rough edges… not as many as at the start, yet there are more than I like to admit. This doesn’t make me any less HIS, I have been consistently and completely HIS, loved and accepted from day one, until this day and into all eternity…no matter what! That is where the ‘rest’ comes from!
Once again, you opened up an entire chain of thoughts. I may have to turn this response into a blog…no joke! Thank you again Lee for your kind encouragement. Blogging is still a new and scary thing, but I am enjoying it… especially when I hear that people are encouraged! And yes, there is EVERYTHING to love about this deal! 👍🏻🎉☝🏻
Your ministry is one of a handful that I really relate to.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why resting in the finished work of Christ isn’t the dominant thinking among so many believers. So many claim grace, but if ya read between the lines, so often they associate God’s acceptance of them by how they perform. It makes me sad. Because I just wish I could somehow make em see.
I’m like…I ain’t got nothin to be connecting my walk with God’s love and acceptance of me. But I know that I’m perfectly loved and accepted fully by God because I’m in Christ.
I was getting ready to comment and then I read your reply to Lee Poskey and wow, wow, wow, and Amen.

Good deal👍
I too think you could make a great post from your reply to me.
That’s good stuff. 😃
There’s folk who have been saved for decades, and are still chasing that carrot of trying to get right with God by effort.
And I appreciate your encouragement and kindness. 😃
