Welcome to my blog site… I am a semi-retired women’s speaker and dramatist, speaking at Christian women’s conferences, retreats, banquets, etc. I say ‘semi’ because my husband retired in October 2019, and with his major life change came several changes for me as well. It took me a while to realize the Lord had new plans for me (I can be a little thick-headed at times), but it all became clear after a couple more major changes.
First, we moved to an entirely new state, much more rural than Orange County, California! My husband had pastored for more than 40 years and, to be quite candid, we were both tired and needed a place to retreat, relax and revive.
Second, we had no sooner moved when Covid-19 hit the scene and we were all isolated for weeks on end. We were busy getting settled in our new home, so at first it didn’t affect us too much. We took daily walks and hikes in a variety of places and enjoyed our new setting tremendously.
I had planned to fulfill each commitment on my Spring Speaking Calendar but then the phone calls started coming in. One by one, my 2020 Spring Speaking Events were completely cancelled due to Covid-19. After over 27 years of traveling and speaking, I felt disappointed at first (ladies wouldn’t have their special time), then conflicted (more time to get settled at home), then a bit guilty for being so relieved (no planning, packing, flying, etc.). That is when I realized I needed to semi-retire and speak more locally. So I took the plunge, made the decision and here I am. It was time!
New beginnings…
I love new things, don’t you? New clothes, new shoes, new towels, a new day, a new year! And here I am… feeling like everything is new! I don’t know exactly where this will all lead, but I’m thinking with my newfound freedoms, I will definitely want to write more. Possibly finish editing that book I wrote and get it published! <huge grin>
But most of all, hopefully, I will find more time to ponder, to think about God, others and life, and mostly to stay connected to the Vine, grow in grace and in the knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ… And yes, definitely to bask in His Giant Amazing, Matchless Love, to pass it on… to CELEBRATE HIS LOVE with you!
