In Between

Buried in the likeness of His death, raised in the likeness of His resurrection.

The first act of obedience my pastor encouraged me in was to follow Jesus in baptism. Obedience can be difficult for a stubborn girl, but with further encouragement from my pastor and my husband (who wanted us to be baptized together), I surrendered my stubborn will for HIS better way.

As Pastor Brown held my head, I held my nostrils, and he dunked me into the freezing cold water with these words, “buried in the likeness of His death.” As he raised me out of the water, he said, “raised in the likeness of His resurrection.” I would love to say that I completely died to self that day but, truth be told, it is still a daily struggle and commitment after 49+ years…yes, still stubborn by nature. Ugh!!

Paul said, “I die daily.” It’s not a one and done. And raised in the likeness of His resurrection? Well, all I can say about that is, since accepting Jesus into my heart and life, I have never been the same. Before I met Him, I was physically alive, but spiritually dead. But on that day He changed the trajectory of my life in every way. Though never to be perfect in this life, He has guided me to a life that is following HIM, the Only One who IS perfect in every way. This has made all the difference.

Today we lean into the Saturday in between, the day between the death of our Savior and His resurrection, the day He was in the tomb and yet some say, taking our sin to the pits of hell itself. It’s a good day to contemplate what it really means for all my sin and shame to be buried in HIM, for my self-centeredness to be put to death, and to ultimately be raised in the likeness of His resurrection.

Oh yes, I am still in process and will be until heaven, but it is certainly worth processing. It is worth contemplating the fact that HE gave His all for you and me as our Redeemer, the Ransom for our sin, bridging the gap between us and a Holy God! Jesus, the Perfect Lamb of God, who knew no sin, became sin for us! Doesn’t that make you want to give your all for HIM!!?! Oh, what a Savior!!! 🙌🏻✝️♥️

Fix Your Eyes on His Story…

As Christmas quickly approaches, we see the conclusion of another year in history. For some of you, it may have been unbelievably rough year, for others it has been an amazing ride. Either way, YOU…your very life…is a part of history, a part of His Story. This month we will be focusing on one of the two most sacred segments of His Story, His miraculous virgin birth…the other being, of course, His sacrificial death and miraculous resurrection. It is my hope, as we celebrate and share gifts with each other, that we will do so reflecting on the Greatest Gift ever given, and may our Lord and Savior illuminate every part of of your life this Glorious Christmas Season! And more than anything, I pray His love will be born afresh in each life, bringing renewed faith and hope as a New Year approaches. ❤️🎄😘🌠

Fix Your Eyes on Giving Thanks…

Fix Your Eyes on Giving Thanks…

Happy November, everyone! Though we can extend gratitude, thanks and praise every day of our lives, November is typically the month we refocus on “Thanksgiving” more than usual. There is so much joy and power in praise. It is truly a strategic action plan we can take against the enemy and his tactics. Rather than grumble about our problems and rehearse our grievances to each other over and over again until they grow larger and larger like the proverbial fish story, we can choose to focus on what we have to be thankful for and praise God from sincere hearts overflowing with gratitude! The result? Our joy will grow larger and larger, and we will become more enthused and encouraged ourselves. We will be people that reflect the light and life of our Glorious Savior to a world in need! I am personally deeply thankful for each of you who follow “Fix Your Eyes” each day and send encouraging thoughts to me as well. God bless you this month with hearts full of gratitude! 💖🙌🏻✝️😘

Fix Your Eyes on Trust…

Fix Your Eyes on Trust… Happy Harvest Season Everyone! Harvesting always brings to mind the faith a farmer has that the ground he tilled, sowed, watered and weeded will bring forth a great harvest. He had to do his part and trust God to do the rest. Faith and trust go hand in hand…and ultimately, true faith is more than simply believing in God with our head, but fully trusting Him from the very core of our heart. It is believing that He is who He says He is and trusting that He will do what He says He will do. Faith in His timeless, living Word is the very foundation on which we stand, believe and trust! I pray this month’s verses will find you deeper in faith, trust and comfort. I love each of you and deeply appreciate all of your kind comments throughout the month. Blessings! 🙌🏻✝️🙏🏻😘
